Press release -

After building Morrow's sustainability framework, Dr. Stina Torjesen will assume advisory and academic roles

Dr. Stina Torjesen, Vice President of Sustainability at Morrow Batteries ASA (“Morrow”), is returning to her position at the University of Agder (UiA) after being on partial leave during her three years with Morrow.

Dr. Torjesen is pursuing full professor qualification at the UiA School of Business and Law, with a focus on sustainable batteries and the geopolitics of battery production. She will continue to serve as a part-time advisor for Morrow, starting January 1, 2026. She will also contribute to the well-established and comprehensive collaboration between UiA and Morrow.

A strong sustainability performance is a key differentiator for Morrow. Under Dr. Torjesen’s leadership, the in-house team has supported the development of sustainable battery chemistries, enabled circular battery value chains, and worked toward achieving a low-carbon footprint in cell manufacturing and supply chains.

"It has been a privilege to strengthen Morrow’s sustainability credentials, which are rooted in clean hydropower and driven by a talented team of dedicated factory engineers, operators, and scientists pioneering sustainable battery cell manufacturing and innovative chemistries," says Dr. Torjesen.

"Stina joined us at a crucial time—during the launch of the EU Battery Regulation and increased emphasis on sustainability reporting and supply chain due diligence. I am impressed with the robust mechanisms and procedures her leadership has helped establish, positioning us well to meet our 100% supply chain traceability goal and prepare for the required EU digital battery passport," says co-founder and EVP of Corporate Affairs Pål Brun. “We look forward to our continued collaboration and to benefiting from her strategic advice and experience.”
